Dancing with Dictators: The Story of The Last Foreign Publisher in Burma

Through the battle for control of The Myanmar Times, the country’s only paper with any foreign ownership —a weekly newspaper published in both English and Burmese, Dancing with Dictators provides an inside look at one of the most repressive regimes in the world today, Myanmar (previously Burma) through the eyes of Ross Dunkley. Dunkley is a dedicated and energetic Australian publisher who controls 49% of the newspaper and dreams of publishing The Myanmar Times as a daily. Set against the background of the first election in twenty years, and with a promise to change the government from a monolithic military-based administration to a civilian administration, through the eyes of Dunkley and his staff, this film delves inside the election process and onto the streets.
